Superintendent Spotlight: Alvin Black From worki Superintendent Spotlight: Alvin Black

From working alongside his dad at a young age to leading job sites today, Alvin knew early on that construction was his path. As a superintendent, he manages daily operations, keeps projects on schedule, and tackles challenges head-on.

His favorite project so far? ParkView Apartments in Greer, where he expanded his skills on a new type of build.

What he loves most about Clayton: “You’re not just a number — you’re family.”

Outside of work, Alvin is a musician, baseball coach, and proud family man.

SUPERINTENDENT SPOTLIGHT: ED CLAY Ed’s love for c SUPERINTENDENT SPOTLIGHT: ED CLAY

Ed’s love for construction started when he was a kid watching job sites for hours, totally fascinated by the sounds, tools, and constant motion.

He got his start helping electrical and plumbing contractors in high school, worked his way up to carpenter, and now leads projects with a passion for solving challenges and building strong client relationships.

One of Ed’s go-to routines? Printing plans and highlighting every page before breaking ground — his way of fully understanding a project from day one.

We’re grateful to have Ed on the Clayton team. Thanks for everything you do, Ed! 💚🏗️

Friday Feature: Tyler Goodman, Superintendent Tyl Friday Feature: Tyler Goodman, Superintendent
Tyler has been building things since he was a kid — LEGO, K’nex, Lincoln Logs, anything he could get his hands on. By 16, he was working on residential renovations, then timber framing, and now commercial construction.
One of his biggest challenges? Finishing Duncan Park on time through snow, rain, and nonstop changes — with a deadline that couldn’t move. His team delivered.
Tyler says most people don’t see the scheduling, documentation, coordination, and problem-solving that go into being a superintendent. He loves learning something new every day and always pushing to stay five steps ahead to keep projects running smoothly.
We appreciate everything you do, Tyler!

Friday Feature: FM Elliott, Superintendent Meet Su Friday Feature: FM Elliott, Superintendent
Meet Superintendent FM Elliott, who has been part of the Clayton Construction family since 2013.
When asked about his favorite part of being a superintendent, FM shared:
“Clayton’s motto ends with we have fun. That’s the key. The Clayton Construction family are my brothers and sisters. The comradery is tremendous, and coming to work is fun.”
One project that stands out to him is the Washington Baptist Church Family Life Center addition in Greer. “I was a former member at WBC and many of the church family would stop by daily. For 18 months, it felt like a family reunion. Our team worked seamlessly together, and I still receive compliments years later.”
FM says the most valuable lesson he’s learned in construction is simple but powerful:
“Document everything with daily logs and photos. Always build by the plans. If it doesn’t work per the drawings, involve the design team and form a solution.”
At 65, FM says he still learns something new every day—and he’s grateful for the opportunity to mentor new team members.
We’re proud to feature FM and celebrate his impact on our projects, our clients, and our team.
